AIAG and AHAA Partnership

March 6, 2014

The Auto Haulers Association of America (AHAA) through the voluntary efforts of its members is having an impact on the Automobile Outbound Logistics Industry.  During the last few months, small teams of Carrier Members have been participating in web meetings with other carrier companies, service providers and OEM’s.  We have made significant contributions to the Electronic Proof of Delivery (ePod) Standard and the joint European and North American Haulaway Manual.

The ePod Standard Manual is in the final stages of acceptance.  This is a high quality product that will help those who are implementing ePod whether they develop their own software or in defining requirements for a software provider.

The Haulaway Manual also was developed with AIAG in support of their effort to develop a common manual between Europe and the North American Finished Vehicle Industries.  At a point we recognized the great potential this has as a training tool for our members, but also recognized it had to be free of the European nomenclature and equipment references.  We then went our separate way and produced our own Release 1.0 AHAA Loading Manual.

Our participating member companies included; Proficient Auto Transport, Hansen & Adkins Auto Transport, Brothers Auto Transport, T.J. McGeehan Sales & Service, Diversified Automotive, United Road and Centurion Auto Logistics.

Largely because of this work by our members we have been asked to participate in a Finished Vehicle Logistics Oversight Committee brought together by AIAG with the purpose of continuing to attack in a broad, comprehensive way opportunities for improvement in the Industry.

Please take a few minutes to read the article published by AIAG concerning our work on the ePod committee.
