Arrival of hurricane season puts focus on carriers’ disaster preparedness plans

August 24, 2020

The 2020 Atlantic hurricane season is the first on record to produce nine tropical storms before August and 13 before the beginning of September.

Tropical Storm Marco, downgraded from a hurricane late Sunday, and Tropical Storm Laura are both bearing down on Louisiana. Favorable weather conditions for The Pelican State appear likely to keep a weakened Marco meandering along the coast line, but Laura – having this weekend wreaked havoc in the Caribbean – could make landfall as a Category 2 hurricane by mid-week before making a turn eastward for the Carolinas.

Houston-based Jetco Delivery went through hurricanes Ike and Harvey in recent years. Hurricane Harvey made landfall three times in August 2017, dumping annual average rainfall totals in less than a week on Houston and southeastern Texas.
