Crashes: Driver-Related Root Cause

One of the trucking industry’s constant missions is the reduction of crashes. In order to reduce crashes, we in safety must always try to understand why they occur. With any crash there can be a variety of potential root causes including equipment-related issues, environmental conditions, other motorist’s actions, etc. However, there is one common denominator with all accidents and that is the involved driver. There are estimates that over 90% of crash root causes can be traced back to some element of the involved driver.
